A common inquiry I receive is whether a client should book for a lash lift or eyelash extensions. In this post, I will break down the pros & cons of both and hopefully it will provide you with some insight for when you're ready to book your next appointment with me.
The first thing I will explain (and its a big one) is maintenance. How much effort are you willing to put in to your overall look and your lashes? Eyelash extensions are a lot more maintenance compared to a lash lift. You have to make sure that you don't pick or pull at them. You have to cleanse them at least once a day (twice if you're super oily or have had a sweaty day). After you cleanse them, depending on the type of set you have, you may have to dry your eyelashes too so that the fans open back up. Are you able to commit to maintenance fills every few weeks? With a lash lift, the important part is in the first 24 hours. You have to avoid steam and sweat which could affect the strength of the lift while the lashes are still setting. You have to avoid squishing them when you sleep that first night so that they don't "set" in a funky position. After that initial 24 hours, you're pretty much set. Just pop on some serum (provided with your service in your aftercare kit) to ensure that your lash lift stays lifted for as long as possible.
Another thing to think about is what type of look you're trying to achieve. Do you want something more natural? Do you have a good foundation to work with (a good amount of natural lashes)? If you are looking to add a considerable amount of density, length AND/OR specialty curls, lash extensions might be the way to go. Believe it or not, eyelash extensions are a good way to correct and enhance facial symmetry. For example, if one eye is a bit more down turned than the other, different using a different lash curl on each eye can correct this to even out the eye plane. If one eye visibly has more eyelashes than the other, this might be more noticeable with a lash lift but can easily be hidden with lash extensions.
Cost is another factor in determining which type of eyelash service is right for you. The cost of maintenance fills for eyelash extensions can definitely add up over time whereas lash lifts give your buck a bit more longevity.
That pretty much sums it up, my lash loves. If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to reach out to me or if I've explained it well enough and you're ready to book, click here.
Til Next Time,
Carolyn xoxo
