LASH EXTENSIONS CARE

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • I prefer for you to silence your phone or gadgets during your appointment. There are a few reasons for this. You can't open your eyes until the service is complete as the adhesive fumes can irritate your eyes if there adhesive is not cured yet. It is very distracting for you and me and may cause the appointment to last longer. I will not be answering your phone for you or checking your messages during your appointment. (Yes - people have asked this of me!)

  • Arrive on time with clean lashes and no makeup (this includes pressed powders and tinted moisturizers). THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. This will ensure that we can get started right away. If you arrive with makeup on, I will have you remove it before we begin and this will cut into your appointment time.

  • Refrain from wearing mascara and/or striplashes/false lashes within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment time as it takes time for striplash glue to break down and be cleaned off of your natural lashes completely.

  • Avoid caffeine prior to your appointment as it may cause you to have fluttering eyelids, causing the appointment to last longer than it should. In some cases, I will have to stop the service and reschedule your appointment if the fluttering is really bad and I cannot keep your eyes closed using other interventions.

  • Feel free to add some color to your set! I have colored lashes available. Let's get creative!

  • If there is a specific look you are trying to achieve, please let me know! I will do my best to replicate this for you. The health of your natural lashes will always be my #1 priority. If you are unsure, feel free to book a free consultation for us to talk about lengths, curls and face/eye shapes.

  • If you arrive with less than 60% of lash extensions, additional charges may apply.

AFTERCARE INFO

  • Cleanse lashes daily, morning & night using an eyelash extension cleanser. An aftercare kit will be provided for you with your new full set. If you are unsure what to buy/use, I sell Prolong Lash Cleanser which was formulated specifically for lash extensions.

  • Use a soft, fluffy makeup brush and gently brush extensions in a downward motion. Also, remember to clean your eyelids and under your eyes as oils tend to collect on these areas. Here is a video for your reference: how to cleanse your lash extensions

  • If using makeup like gel liner, eye pencil and eye shadow, please take extra care in making sure you've cleaned it all off extremely well at the end of the day as harmful buildup will accumulate along the lash line.

  • Do NOT use mascara on your extensions and bottom lashes. If you do happen to put mascara on your extensions, trust me when I say I will be able to tell and we will have to remove them and start fresh.

  • Do not rub your eyes or lashes. Do not tug, twist, pick or pull at your lashes.

  • Never brush them when wet. Use your portable lash fan to dry them and then gently comb them out.

  • As your lashes start to grow out and you are nearing your fill date, brush the tips of your lashes instead of right from the base to tip to avoid pulling any extensions that may have loosened since your lash appointment.

  • I highly recommend that you book a few regular fills in advance as my schedule fills up really quickly. Your fills should be booked 2-3 weeks apart, as necessary (min 60% lash extensions remaining, otherwise additional charges may apply). Everyone's lash growth cycle is different. Anything beyond 3 week regularly scheduled fill must be approved by me (based on your lash growth cycle).

FAQ

Do eyelash extensions hurt?

Having eyelash extensions applied to your natural lashes should never hurt. The entire service, from start to finish, should be relaxing, if anything. It is very common for the client to fall asleep while having their lashes done. If you ever have any sort of discomfort during or after the service, please let me know as soon as possible.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

A full set can last anywhere from 2-4 weeks, depending on a few things such as:

  • your natural lash cycle, how often your natural lashes shed and how fast they grow

  • how well you care for them post-fill (if you're brushing and cleansing daily)

  • how many lashes you have at the start and how healthy they are

  • if you pick at/touch your lashes often

How long does an appointment last?

Having lash extensions applied by your lash artist should never be rushed as the entire process is very meticulous.

A full set can range anywhere from 1.5 hours-3 hours, depending on the type of set. There are so many factors that can determine how long your set will take such as the overall look you are wishing to achieve, how many natural lashes you have and the health of your natural lash, just to name a few.

A fill appointment can range anywhere from 1 hour-2.5 hours.

Other factors that may slow down application time are:

Talking - for some people, their face moves as they talk and it can be difficult to place an extension or even isolate the natural lash when your face/eyes are moving

Fluttering Eyes - Caffeine of any sort can cause your eyes to flutter and it can be difficult to place an extension or even isolate the natural lash when your face/eyes are moving.

What is an eyelash fill?

I always start each appointment with cleansing your extensions then remove any grown out extensions that are more than 2mm away from your lash line and replace them with a new extension. A common misconception is that I would just fill in any gaps where a lash extension has fallen out. This is only half the task. Extensions that are holding on strong but are further away from the lash line must be removed and replaced with a new extension because as the extension gets further away from the lash line, it becomes harder for that lash to hold that extension. Depending on what point your natural lash is at in its growth cycle, not removing that extension could cause that natural lash to fall out prematurely. Over time, this could cause damage to that natural lash.

Do I have to wait 24-48hrs until I can get my eyelashes wet or shower?

Not anymore. This is an old rule. As more and more information arises in this new industry, we’ve learned that the adhesive is fully cured by the time you leave your appointment. It is also said that it can actually help with retention if you wish to cleanse or shower when you get home from your appointment.

Can you complete my fill if I have eyelash extensions from another lash artist (foreign fill)?

The answer is it depends. If the set is clean, well isolated and isn’t damaging then I can definitely complete the fill. If not, we can do a removal and start with a fresh, new set.

Please note that there may be a "transition period" where the previous artists work must blend with my work and may be less than optimal. It may take a fill or two for the entire set to look completely uniform.
